QUETTA, Jul 01 (APP): Governor Balochistan Jaffar Khan Mandokhail, presiding over the third Senate meeting of the University of Gwadar, praised the institution’s remarkable progress, noting that despite limited resources and numerous challenges, public sector universities in the province have managed to strike a balance through careful planning and strict oversight.
He highlighted that the University of Gwadar’s achievement of an 88.79 percent score is a matter of pride, crediting Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Abdul Razzaq Sabir and his team for their dedication.
The Governor emphasized that the government is deeply committed to promoting higher education and aims to position the University of Gwadar among the world’s leading coastal belt universities.
He explained that the university’s Strategic Plan 2026–2030 focuses exclusively on coastal-related disciplines such as the blue economy, marine sciences, fisheries, coastal belt management, and environmental studies, ensuring its distinctive identity. He added that experts from other fields are also being consulted to strengthen the institution’s academic and research framework.
Jaffar Mandokhail commended the introduction of vocational training and diploma courses at the university, stressing their importance in creating employment opportunities for unemployed youth. He noted with encouragement that nearly half of the student body comprises local women, calling it a commendable achievement in such remote districts.
The Governor underlined that the university’s core mission is to produce research grounded in modern knowledge, and the growing number of research papers is a promising sign. He urged that every research output should be utilized for public welfare.
The Senate meeting, attended by Vice Chancellor Dr Abdul Razzaq Sabir, Vice Chancellor University of Balochistan Dr Zahoor Ahmad Bazai, Justice Najamuddin Mengal of the Balochistan High Court, Additional Secretary Higher Education, Principal Secretary to the Governor Abdul Nasir Dotani, Pro-Vice Chancellor Dr Syed Manzoor Ahmad, Registrar Dr Daulat Khan, and other Senate members, concluded with several important decisions based on participants’ recommendations.
