Comprehensive strategy prepared to maintain peace in Balochistan during Muharram: IG

QUETTA, Jun 09 (APP): Inspector General (IG) Police Balochistan Muhammad Tahir on Tuesday chaired a meeting with all ranges and police officers of the province via video link at the Central Police Office Quetta regarding Muharram-ul-Haram and other security arrangements.
 The meeting reviewed security and other important issues during Muharram-ul-Haram.
The IG Police said that the security plan would be implemented in collaboration with the organizers of the Muharram-ul-Haram procession saying that the month of Muharram-ul-Haram teaches us unity, brotherhood, and above all, patience.
He said that a comprehensive strategy has been prepared to maintain law and order situation throughout the province during Muharram-ul-Haram adding that under the security plan, the checking and security system at the exit and entry routes of the city should be further improved.
The top official of Police directed that shops, markets, and plazas on the route of the procession should be swept and sealed after searching, implementation of the Tenancy Act should be ensured.
He said that complete data of residents of shops and houses rented from all property dealers, Legal action should be taken against shops/houses and tenants who would not implement the Tenancy Act.
He said that a campaign against illegal, unregistered, and unlicensed vehicles should be launched, strictest action to be taken against non-custom paid vehicles and suspicious rickshaws for improvement of law and order situation.
He said that district police, FC, and other security forces personnel would monitor the meetings and other sensitive places.
 The meeting was briefed by concerned officials that at least 77 meetings, 77 imambargahs, 41 nakajats, and 21 marches have been established, control rooms will be established in the Home Department, IG Office and DIG Office.
 In addition to the District Police, Balochistan Constabulary, Eagle Squad, QRF and Special Branch, aerial surveillance would also be carried out, the movement of Afghan refugees, foreigners would be closely monitored in briefing the meeting.
 All hotels, restaurants, rental houses and shops in the city would be checked daily, said in briefing the meeting.
 According to the register available there, complete data of the residents will be obtained and the hotel record would be kept in every police station, imambargahs and places of gatherings to be monitored with the help of CCTV cameras installed by the force personnel, said in briefing the meeting.
 Police have prepared a joint action plan with other law enforcement agencies during Muharram-ul Harram, special arrangements will also be made for the traffic police during Muharram, said in briefing.
