CM Sarfraz Bugti vows strict action against elements disrupting peace during Muharram

QUETTA, Jun 22 (APP):Chief Minister of Balochistan, Mir Sarfraz Bugti, vowed that strict legal action will be taken against any elements attempting to disrupt peace, spread provocation, or harm sectarian harmony.
The Chief Minister chaired a high-level meeting at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat on Monday to review law and order and security arrangements for Muharram.
The meeting discussed in detail the security of processions and gatherings, as well as other arrangements to ensure peace during the holy month. The Home Department presented a comprehensive briefing on the security plan, informing participants that an emergency response plan had been prepared for the 9th and 10th of Muharram, with special security orders already issued.
Eleven districts have been declared highly sensitive and six districts sensitive, where enhanced security measures are being implemented.
Addressing the meeting, CM Bugti stressed that maintaining peace during Muharram is a top priority and the protection of citizens’ lives and property is the foremost responsibility of the government. He directed all relevant institutions to ensure complete implementation of the security plan through close coordination, effective communication, and professional conduct. He emphasized the need for proactive measures, strict monitoring, and a rapid response system to prevent any untoward incidents.
Bugti highlighted the vital role of scholars and community leaders from all schools of thought in promoting harmony, tolerance, and brotherhood during Muharram, appreciating their cooperation.
The Chief Minister instructed authorities to utilize all available resources to provide a peaceful environment and warned that no negligence in security arrangements would be tolerated.
The meeting was attended by Provincial Home Minister Mir Ziaullah Langove, CM’s aide Shahid Rind, Chief Secretary Shakeel Qadir Khan, Additional Chief Secretary Home Hamza Shafqat, Inspector General Police Muhammad Tahir Khan, Special Secretary Home Abdul Salam Achakzai, DIG CTD Aitzaz Hussain Goraya, and other senior officials.
