QUETTA, Jun 17 (APP):Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti on Wednesday chaired a meeting of the provincial cabinet and reviewed a detailed of the proposed budget for the upcoming fiscal year 2026-27 which has been suggested at Rs, 1089 billion.
The meeting was attended by provincial ministers, Chief Secretary Balochistan, administrative secretaries of the relevant departments and senior officials. After detailed deliberation on the budget documents for the fiscal year 2026-27, the provincial cabinet unanimously approved the budget.
The cabinet was given a detailed briefing about various aspects of the budget, development priorities, financial discipline, revenue increase and public welfare projects.
The cabinet was informed that the total volume of the Balochistan budget for the fiscal year 2026-27 has been proposed at Rs 1089 billion.
The budget has allocated Rs797 billion for non-development expenditure, while Rs206 billion has been allocated for the overall Provincial Development Program (PSDP).
Under the development program, Rs,106 billion has been allocated for new development schemes, while Rs,100 billion has been fixed for the completion of ongoing development projects, so that the ongoing development process in the province could be made more effective and faster.
The meeting was further informed that Rs, 45 billion would be available for Federal Funded Projects (FFP) while Rs. 40 billion to be available for Foreign Project Assistance (FPA), which would be in addition to the provincial development program.
Thanks to these additional resources, it will be possible to implement development projects in infrastructure, education, health, drinking water, communication, agriculture, energy and other important sectors more effectively.
The cabinet was also briefed on the increase in provincial revenue, a target has been set to rise provincial revenue to Rs170 billion during the fiscal year 2026-27 by significantly increasing provincial revenues, to achieve this goal, reforms in the revenue system, financial discipline and effective use of resources would be ensured.
Addressing the meeting, Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti said that despite limited resources, the provincial government has prepared a balanced, realistic and people-friendly budget, the main objective of which is the welfare of the people of Balochistan, sustainable development, provision of employment opportunities and improvement of basic facilities.
He said that the current budget would create new opportunities for development and prosperity and would play an important role in further strengthening the economic foundations of the province.
The Chief Minister said that the government’s top priority is to provide health, education, clean water, better infrastructure and employment to the people, these sectors have been given special importance in the development program so as to ensure long-term solutions to public problems.
He said that the provincial government would ensure transparent and effective use of resources while maintaining fiscal discipline.
At the end of the meeting, the provincial cabinet, while approving the budget proposals, reiterated its commitment that all available resources would be utilized for the development, prosperity and public welfare of Balochistan.
The cabinet expressed satisfaction that the budget for the fiscal year 2026-27 is in line with the development needs of the province, public expectations and the requirements of economic stability and it would prove to be a significant step towards the sustainable development of Balochistan.
