QUETTA, Aug 24 (APP):Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti on Monday said that the Balochistan Safe City Authority is playing an effective role in establishing law and order situation, preventing crimes and protecting the lives and property of citizens.
He said that the effective use of modern technology could make the police response mechanism more effective by identifying crimes and suspicious activities in a timely manner.
  He expressed these views while presiding over a high-level meeting of the Balochistan Safe City Authority (BSCA).
  The meeting reviewed in detail the performance of the Balochistan Safe City Authority, the surveillance system, crime prevention and issues related to increasing the capacity of the institution.
IG Police Balochistan Muhammad Tahir Khan gave a detailed briefing to the meeting on the performance of the Balochistan Safe City Authority and various measures.
The briefing was informed that through the effective surveillance system of Safe City, 138 stolen vehicles were identified from across the country, while timely detection of 9 suspicious activities helped in thwarting major terrorist acts.
  The meeting was informed that the Balochistan Safe City Authority provided 631 important evidences to the police related to various crime scenes, with the help of which the process of investigating crimes and reaching out to the accused was facilitated.
  The briefing was further informed that 15 auxiliary emergency response services have been assigned to the CTD, which would help in making the response and communication between the relevant institutions more effective in emergency situations.
While appreciating the performance of the Safe City Authority, Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti said that the process of crime prevention should be further accelerated through modern technology and the surveillance system should be made compatible with modern requirements.
He said that making the Safe City system more stable and compatible with modern requirements is among the priorities of the government, timely detection of crimes and suspicious activities could make police operations more effective and helps ensure the safety of citizens’ lives and property.
  CM Bugti said that for the protection of citizens, the modern surveillance system would be expanded to more areas of the province, while the experiences and expertise of the Punjab Safe City Authority to be utilized to enhance the capacity of the Balochistan Safe City Authority.
The Chief Minister said that to further enhance the capacity of the Balochistan Safe City Authority, a letter would be sent to the Chief Minister of Punjab, requesting the experiences, technical assistance and cooperation of the Punjab Safe City Authority for improving its capacity.
He said that the government of Balochistan is further strengthening modern technology and effective response mechanisms for law and order situation, through modern surveillance systems, timely information and effective response, crime prevention as well as protection of lives and property of citizens could be further ensured.
  He directed the concerned authorities to expedite practical steps to increase the capacity of the Safe City Authority, effective use of modern technology and further improve the surveillance system, so that full utilization of available resources to be made for the establishment of law and order in the province and the protection of citizens.
Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti said that strengthening the security and surveillance system based on modern technology in Balochistan is the need of the hour and the government would utilize all necessary resources for this purpose.
