The resolution, jointly moved by CM Bugti along with provincial ministers Mir Muhammad Sadiq Umrani, Mir Zahoor Ahmed Buledi, Mir Shoaib Nosherwani, Faisal Khan Jamali, and Parliamentary Secretary Barkat Ali Rind, was unanimously adopted by the House.
Balochistan Assembly unanimously adopts resolution on Youm-e-Istehsal Kashmir
QUETTA, Aug 05 (APP): On the occasion of Youm-e-Istehsal Kashmir, Chief Minister Balochistan Mir Sarfraz Bugti presented a joint resolution in the provincial assembly condemning India’s unilateral actions of August 5, 2019. The resolution, jointly moved by CM Bugti along with provincial ministers Mir Muhammad Sadiq Umrani, Mir Zahoor Ahmed Buledi, Mir Shoaib Nosherwani, Faisal Khan Jamali, and Parliamentary Secretary Barkat Ali Rind, was unanimously adopted by the House.
The resolution strongly denounced India’s revocation of Articles 370 and 35(A) of its constitution, declaring the move unconstitutional, illegal, and a blatant violation of United Nations Security Council resolutions. Article 370 had granted Jammu and Kashmir special constitutional status, its own constitution, flag, and internal autonomy, while Article 35(A) safeguarded the rights of permanent residents in employment, property, and settlement.
The assembly noted that the abrogation of these provisions was an attempt to strip Kashmiris of their identity, constitutional status, and fundamental rights.
Lawmakers expressed grave concern that India’s unilateral measures were aimed at altering the disputed status of Jammu and Kashmir and changing its demographic composition by allowing non-residents to purchase land and access government jobs, in violation of international law.
The resolution also condemned state terrorism, blockades, arbitrary arrests, human rights abuses, and restrictions on media in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, describing them as failed attempts to suppress the Kashmiri people’s legitimate aspirations for self-determination.
The Balochistan Assembly reaffirmed full solidarity with the people of Jammu and Kashmir, pledging Pakistan’s continued political, diplomatic, moral, and legal support. It endorsed the observance of August 5 each year as “Youm-e-Istehsal Kashmir,” with nationwide events to raise global awareness of Indian atrocities and highlight the Kashmiri struggle.
The House urged the provincial government to approach the federal government for stronger diplomatic efforts at the United Nations, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), and other international forums. It also called for the formulation of a comprehensive national strategy to provide legal and diplomatic assistance to the Kashmiri people.
The assembly paid tribute to the sacrifices, resilience, and unwavering struggle of the Kashmiri people, and prayed for their liberation from oppression and for the attainment of freedom, peace, and justice.
