Security measures for LB elections

LAHORE, Oct 29 (APP): The city police have put in place
comprehensive and effective security measures to ensure law
and order during local government elections to be
held on October 31.
A spokesman for the police said about 18,000
policemen along with other law enforcement agencies personnel
would perform duties in the city to provide security to people.
He said additional police personnel would also be
deployed at 890 sensitive polling stations while 7,000
policemen would perform duties at 3,332 polling stations.
About 351 teams of Quick Response Force (QRF) would
conduct patrolling on the day of local bodies elections in
the city, the spokesman added.
He said the city had been categorized into 12 zones
under the security plan and a superintendent of police (SP)
would supervise the zones to ensure law and order.
He said about 6,000 policemen would be called in from
other districts besides others who had been deployed at
offices.
The city police have 1,200 walk through gates
which would be installed at polling stations.
He said the metropolitan police were utilizing all
available resources to keep a peaceful environment for local
bodies elections and provide foolproof security to people.
The DIG said the city police would effectively
implement and enforce the code of conduct of the Election
Commission of Pakistan.
