KARACHI, May 16 (APP):The PCB Inter-District Under-19 One Day Cricket Tournament (Karachi Region) kicked off with three matches played across the city, witnessing stellar performances and convincing wins by Zone-V, Zone-VI, and Zone-VII.
Zone-V defeated Zone-I by five wickets at the Aga Khan Gymkhana Ground, thanks to a brilliant unbeaten century from Sahil Nisar, who scored 115 runs with 15 boundaries. Rizwan Ullah also shone with a quickfire 51 off 24 balls and picked up two wickets. Zone-I had posted 229/6 in their 50 overs, with Affan Shahnawaz and M. Farman contributing 30 and 36* respectively. In reply, Zone-V chased down the target in 48.1 overs, finishing at 230/5.
At Gulberg Gymkhana Ground, Zone-VII overcame Zone-II by four wickets. Zone-II were bowled out for 148 in 44.4 overs, with Alwaz Ahmed top-scoring with 56. Roail Nisar impressed with the ball, taking 4 for 27. Zone-VII reached the target in just 27.2 overs, powered by Talah Irfan’s aggressive 78, which included 12 fours and three sixes.
Zone-VI outclassed Zone-III by 82 runs at KCCA Stadium. Batting first, Zone-VI posted 211/6, with Huzaifa Ahsan contributing 55 in an all-round performance that also saw him claim 4 wickets for just 16 runs. Zone-III was bowled out for 129, despite a 37-run knock by Noor Irfan.
Umpiring duties were performed by Aley Haider, Murtaza Mehmood, Imran Jawed, Danish Hussain, Imtiaz Iqbal, and Muhammad Babar. Scorers included Imran Ali, Salman Hussain Kazmi, and Syed Obaid.
Fixtures on May 19th are Zone-V vs Zone-IV at Gulberg Gymkhana, Zone-II vs Zone-VI at KCCA Stadium and Zone-III vs Zone-VII at Aga Khan Gymkhana Ground.
