PESHAWAR, May 13 (APP): A delegation from Bagan Kurram, led by PPP Middle East Vice President Shiraz Orakzai, on Tuesday met with Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi to discuss the serious challenges faced by the local population following the burning of Bagan Bazaar and the village on the night of November 22, 2024.
The delegation included religious leaders and community representatives such as Maulana Shah Nawaz, Maulana Rohullah, Kausar Alam, Shakeel ur Rehman, and Fida Muhammad.
They detailed the aftermath of the incident, saying that essential infrastructure such as the National Bank branch, NADRA office, three schools, and the electricity system had been severely damaged.
The delegates emphasized that the people of Bagan are peace-loving and committed to harmony, but stressed the urgent need for development work and restoration of basic facilities to ensure long-term peace in the region.
They informed the Governor that while a survey of the affected market and homes had been completed, compensation had not yet been provided to the victims.
Governor Faisal Karim Kundi assured the delegation that their concerns would be conveyed to the relevant authorities.
He said that instructions had already been issued to federal departments to address the challenges faced by the community.
The delegation expressed their gratitude to the Pakistan Red Crescent for distributing relief items to the affected residents without discrimination and thanked the Governor for his support.
