Horse-trading weakening democracy: Musadik

ISLAMABAD, April 12 (APP):Special Assistant to the Prime Minister for Media Affairs Senator Dr Musadik Malik has said horse-trading in elections was not in national interest as it was weakening democracy.
Former prime minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif and his party were still popular among the masses as hundreds of thousands of people were participating in the gatherings being addressed by him, he said talking to a private news channel.
Musadik said quitting of some parliamentarians would not affect the popularity of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N). Some nefarious elements were intimidating parliamentarians of southern Punjab to quit the PML-N, he added.
Replying to a question, he said Nawaz Sharif was disqualified for having an Iqama (residential permit) but not on the basis of corruption charges though he had cooperated with the Joint Investigation Team for transparent investigation.
Commenting on Grand Democratic Alliance (GDA) in Sindh, he said the alliance would give tough time to the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) in the general election 2018.
