ISLAMABAD, Apr 10 (APP):Minister of State for Finance and Revenue Rana Muhammad Afzal Tuesday said the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government would leave over two times more foreign reserves than those which it had inherited from the previous government in 2013.
Responding to a calling attention notice of Leader of the Opposition Sherry Rehman in the Senate, he said imports had increased due to the ongoing development process in the country. Allocations for each province in the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) had increased three times. He said efforts were underway to control the current account deficit.
He said regulatory duty had been imposed on essential items and increase in dollar price resulted in decreasing imports. “We are a responsible government and our exports have increased. We’ll leave two times more foreign reserves than 2 013,” he added.
Sherry Rehman through her calling attention notice had drawn attention of the House towards decline in foreign reserves.
