ISLAMABAD, March 31 (APP):The Law and Justice Commission of Pakistan (LJCP) Saturday clarified that its Secretary Dr Muhammad
Raheem Awan had never been interviewed by any section of press regarding pendency of cases in courts.
The clarification is being given with reference to the publication, regarding pendency of cases in the
courts of Pakistan by bbcurdu.com Islamabad on March 23, 2018 and the interview referred to Dr Muhammad
Raheem Awan, a press release said.
The Commission said that publication referred to in the bbcurdu.com, needed clarification as the
Secretary, Law and Justice Commission of Pakistan, being the Secretary, National Judicial (Policy
Making) Committee (NJPMC), had narrated regarding judge-case-ratio and timeline for disposal of
cases and cause of pendency due to different reasons, since the judges were working in hard environment
and there were some other cogent reasons for accumulation of backlog and due to acute shortage of judges
at different level, it was difficult for clearance of backlog and disposal of cases.
Moreover, in neighboring countries, there were sufficient number of judges to settle adjudication and
it was needed that justice sector in Pakistan shall also be strengthened for administration of justice at
grassroots level by increase in number of judges, and strengthening justice sector stake-holders.
