LAHORE, Mar 21 (APP):Two helicopters of Pakistan Army helped in drying up the wicket and outfield of the Gaddafi stadium to make the arena appropriate for holding the second elimination play off, of the Pakistan Super League between Peshawar Zalmi and Karachi Kings here on Wednesday.
The overnight rain followed by the showers which continued till late afternoon today left the ground water soaked.
Pakistan Cricket Board got the services of army choppers to help them drying the low lying ground. The choppers hovered on various parts of the ground to, somehow ,dry out the water .
As the rain stopped and spectators started reaching the historic Gadaffi stadium they experienced a life time scene
seeing chopper inside the ground, hovering on different parts.
“We have never seen such a scene and we hope the chopper will help in making arena fit for play “, said a group of
spectators while talking to APP.
After one chopper finished the job, another flew inside the stadium doing a similar job.
As the chopper flew off the field, PCB’s ground drying rollers moved in and put in hectic efforts to completely dry
the outfield. With the determined effort of the ground staff finally the arena was declared fit by the umpires for holding the match.
