Commissioner chairs meeting to review various initiatives

SARGODHA, Jan 29 (APP):Commissioner Jahanzab Awan on Wednesday chaired a meeting to review ongoing various initiatives across the division.
The meeting focused on the anti-encroachment drive, socio-economic registry,
waste management operations, the “Dhee Rani” programme, the anti-polio campaign,
and measures to prevent illegal logging in forests.
The deputy commissioners of four districts briefed the commissioner on
progress of these initiatives.
It was informed the meeting that anti-encroachment operations were being carried
out daily.
Moreover, pushcart vendors were relocated to designated street markets at the tehsil level
while permanent encroachments were being demolished, and extra sheds in front of shops
were being removed.
Anti-encroachment committees, comprising traders and administrative officers, were also being formed at the tehsil level.
The commissioner directed strict implementation of the zero-tolerance policy against encroachments and urged traders to voluntarily remove illegal structures, otherwise,legal action would be taken against non-compliant individuals.
Regarding waste management, officials informed that an outsourced cleaning operation would commence across districts from February 01.
Director Health Services Dr Muhammad Riaz briefed on the upcoming five-day national anti-polio campaign starting February 3, 2025.
A total of 1.63 million children in the division would be administered polio vaccinations through 7,592 teams, including 6,969 mobile teams, 169 transit teams, and 424 fixed teams.
Later, Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Waseem, briefed on the ‘Dhee Rani Program’, under which a mass wedding for 70 couples would be held in Sargodha on January 31.
