Dera Ghazi Khan to have cadet college

LAHORE, Mar 18 (APP):Pakistan Air Force (PAF) and Punjab School Education Department (PSED) have signed an agreement to establish a cadet college in Fort Munro area of Dera Ghazi Khan.
The signing ceremony was attended by Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, Federal Minister for Energy Sardar Awais Khan Laghari, Air Chief Marshal Sohail Aman and other officials, according to a handout issued here Sunday.
PSED Secretary Dr Allah Bakhash Malik and Deputy Chief of Air Staff Air Marshal Shahid Akhtar Alvi signed the agreement. Under the agreement, the Punjab government would provide 100 acres of land for the Cadet College and Welfare City in Fort Munro besides a grant of Rs one billion.
Addressing the signing ceremony, the chief minister said the establishment of cadet college in Fort Munro was a cheerful moment for him, and the agreement between the Punjab government and the PAF in this regard was a welcoming step.
Shehbaz Sharif said cadet college in Fort Munro would facilitate inhabitants of Dera Ghazi Khan as well as whole Pakistan. “We have full confidence in the professional capabilities of the PAF which has an ability to defeat enemies and its services for the well-being of society are appreciable,” he said and asserted that this project of special education centre with the cooperation of the PAF and the Punjab government would be a role model.
He said the services of Air Chief Marshall Sohail Aman related to defence were undeniably imperative, however, his valuable services in the field of education to improve living standard of common man could not be ignored.
He added that Sohail Aman had multiplied glory of the PAF by four times and his efforts to ensure security of air boundaries of the motherland were commendable.
On this occasion, Air Chief Marshal Sohail Aman said providing education and other facilities to public was a joyful and gratifying honour for him. Not only a cadet college or public school but Fort Munro would look like a great city, he assured.
The PAF, he mentioned, was pride of the nation as it was now self-sufficient for making modern appliances also its aircraft and other instruments were self-exemplary.
On the establishment of educational institutions, he said, “We are grateful to the Punjab government for their cooperation as we have to rely on education and technology if we want to change destiny of our country and nation.”
He added that the Punjab chief minister had made a great contribution in the mission of public service and assured that the PAF would meet the expectations of the nation.
The function was also attended by Provincial Ministers Dr Aisha Ghaus Pasha and Rana Mashood Ahmed Khan, MPA Sardar Jamal Khan Laghari, Air Marshal (R) Qazi Javed, Air Marshal (R) Jamshed, Air Vice Marshal Amir Masood, Air Vice Marshal (R) Hamid Khawaja, chief secretary, officials of the PAF and provincial secretaries.
