ISLAMABAD, Jan 20 (APP):Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Faisal Karim Kundi, on Monday emphasized the urgent need for collective efforts to promote peace and development in the province.
He said this while addressing a ceremony organized by the Rotary Club at a private hotel in Islamabad.
Governor Kundi praised the Rotary Club’s contributions, particularly its initiatives for providing clean water and promoting tree plantation.
He said that such efforts should be implemented across Pakistan, adding that access to clean drinking water is a critical need, especially as bottled mineral water has replaced traditional local water sources.
Addressing the issue of polio, Kundi highlighted the 73 reported cases of polio in Pakistan, calling for its eradication as a top priority.
He recalled how former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto initiated the polio vaccination campaign, beginning with administering polio drops to her daughter. He also mentioned that Asifa Bhutto Zardari continues to serve as the ambassador for the campaign today.
The Governor informed the audience that a Special Advisor for polio has been appointed at the Governor House, and he assured that the doors of the Governor House remain open for all related to the polio campaign.
In addition, Kundi announced that a program on heart diseases would soon be held at the Governor House, inviting everyone to participate.
He concluded by expressing his appreciation for the Rotary Club’s members and their dedicated services. As the Governor, he assured that the Governor House would always be available for the public and the Rotary Club’s members when needed.
