LAHORE, Jan 16 (APP):Environmental and Animal Rights Organization (EARO) is going to arrange a two-day International Environmental and Animal Rights Conference in Lahore from January 18.
Addressing a press conference in this connection at a local hotel on Thursday, the EARO Founder Altamush Saeed disclosed that Supreme Court’s Justice Ayesha Malik will inaugurate the event, while Justice Athar Minallah will address the second session on the same day.
On January 19, he added, Lahore High Court Justice Jawad Hassan and renowned actress Faryal Gohar will participate in the concluding session.
Altamush Saeed emphasized the urgent need to raise awareness about cruelty against animals in Pakistan. He also highlighted recent cases of animal abuse such as a camel’s leg being severed in Sindh and a donkey losing all four legs in another city.
He called for the inclusion of animal rights in the educational curriculum and stressed the need for collective action to protect animals, adding that his organization is the first in Pakistan to champion this cause.
