MULTAN, Jan 16 (APP):In a police encounter near Lal Eisan Mor, Qadirpur Raan Police arrested a notorious criminal, in an injured condition.
According to police sources, the incident occurred late at night when Qadirpur Raan Police had set up a checkpoint at Lal Eisan Mor where three individuals on a motorcycle approached from the Bangalwala side. The police signaled them to stop, but they attempted to flee, turning back in the opposite direction.
The police pursued the suspects, who abandoned their motorcycle and entered a nearby orchard. From there, the suspects opened fire on the police, prompting a retaliatory response. The exchange of gunfire continued for some time.
When the firing subsided, the police conducted a search operation and found one suspect injured inside the orchard. He was identified as Mansab Ali alias Sadri, resident of Bangalwala.
The police sources said that the arrested criminal was a history sheeter and wanted to police in dozens of cases at Multan and Khanewal.
Two other suspects managed to escape under the cover of trees during the exchange of fire. The police have cordoned off the area and launched efforts to apprehend the fleeing suspects.
The injured suspect was shifted to Nishtar Hospital for medical treatment.
The police have also recovered a motorcycle and weapons from the crime scene while a case has been registered, and further investigation is underway, police sources added.
