KARACHI, Jan 15 (APP):Commissioner Karachi Syed Hassan Naqvi on Wednesday took notice of non implementation of government fixed LPG prices fixed and sale of substandard and unsafe cylinders in city and directed to launch a crackdown against those shopkeepers who violating rules.
Commissioner chaired a meeting at his office with the Deputy Commissioners, officers of OGRA, Civil Defence, Traffic Police and Transport departments and decided to make effective measures to prevent the sale of substandard cylinders and installation of cylinders in public transport vehicles.
The meeting also decided to seek assistance from Hydrocarbon Institute for inspection of cylinders while officers concerned along with experts would conduct inspection of the cylinders
Commissioner asked all Deputy Commissioners to expedite crackdown against shops selling LPG illegally in their respective jurisdictions.
The Deputy Commissioners briefed the meeting about actions taken against violators in their respective districts.
SSP Traffic Police Dr Qamar Rizvi informed the meeting that 13 vehicles were fined in last two weeks and charged a fine of Rs 75000 for violation while two cylinders were also seized.
The meeting was attended among others by Keamari DC Raja Tariq Chandio, DC Korangi Masood Bhutto, DC East Abrar Jaffer, AC Headquarters Rabia Syed, Ghulam Muhammad Shaheen of OGRA, officers of Transport and Civil Defence departments. Some of the Deputy Commissioners also attended the meeting via video link.
