Governor Kundi chairs Red Crescent meeting to review overall performance

PESHAWAR, Jan 15 (APP):A joint meeting of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Red Crescent and the Merged Districts Red Crescent was held at the Governor House on Wednesday under the chairmanship of Governor, Faisal Karim Kundi.
The meeting provided a detailed review of the overall performance of both provincial branches of the Red Crescent.
The meeting was attended by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Red Crescent Chairman Malik Habib Orakzai, Vice Chairman Farzand Wazir, Chairman of the Merged Districts Imran Wazir Advocate, members of the management committee, and other relevant officials.
Officials from both branches briefed the Governor on the institution’s performance and discussed ongoing projects funded by international bodies such as the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), Norwegian Red Cross, and the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC).
A comprehensive report on the relief efforts in the Kurram district was also presented, highlighting the distribution of food, medical supplies, and other essential items through aid and medical camps for both Lower and Upper Kurram’s affected populations.
The meeting also informed the Governor about the suspension of Norwegian-funded projects and the support provided by the Sindh and Balochistan governments, which included a grant of 20 million rupees and medical supplies for the relief activities in Kurram.
Officials reported that the annual budget and fundraising efforts for both Red Crescent branches are expected to be completed this month. Additionally, donor-funded projects from the previous year were successfully completed, and audits for all district branches have been finalized. A proposal was also made for a third-party audit of the last three years.
Details about the executive, health, human resources, and IT committees were also shared with the Governor during the meeting.
Governor Faisal Karim Kundi praised the Red Crescent’s timely relief efforts in Kurram, commending the dedication of both branches despite the challenging circumstances.
He also expressed gratitude to the Sindh and Balochistan governments, overseas donors, and other organizations for their support in assisting the people of Kurram.
The Governor assured continued cooperation for the provision of essential goods and medicines in the district and emphasized the importance of maintaining effective communication with international relief organizations and donors.
Governor Kundi also urged a detailed report on the assets of both Red Crescent branches, including properties in Bara Gate, Dabgari Garden, and other districts, which will be presented in the next meeting.
