PESHAWAR, Dec 11 (APP):Advisor to the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Information, Barrister Dr. Muhammad Ali Saif, addressed the Kurram Grand Jirga held in Kohat, urging the elimination of hatred as a crucial step toward ending conflict in the region.
Speaking at the gathering, Barrister Dr. Saif emphasized the need for unity and collaboration to restore peace.
“We must eliminate hatred; wars will cease automatically,” he said, expressing optimism about achieving a peaceful resolution to long-standing issues in Kurram District.
He announced that the central highways of Kurram District, closed due to security concerns, would soon be reopened for public transportation.
Additionally, he assured that bunkers on the main highways would be dismantled with the cooperation of local communities.
Dr. Saif highlighted the importance of disarming the region of heavy weaponry to ensure lasting stability.
He also announced that the provincial government would continue supplying essential medicines through helicopter services, while the restoration of air transport services is under consideration, with a decision expected shortly.
Acknowledging the desire for peace among both parties involved in the conflict, Dr. Saif pointed out that some elements benefit from ongoing tensions.
He called for public cooperation to identify these elements and pledged that the government would take strict action against them.
He urged the grand jirga to find a sustainable solution to the generational conflict, ensuring a peaceful future for the next generations.
Dr. Saif reassured the people of Kurram that the provincial government is firmly by their side and committed to taking all necessary measures to restore peace.
He also revealed that the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has established a provincial-level supervisory committee comprising senior officials from civil administration and law enforcement agencies to oversee the situation in Kurram.
