KP Police, AWKU agree to provide free education to martyrs’ children

PESHAWAR, Dec 11 (APP):The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police and Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan (AWKUM) on Wednesday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to provide tuition fee concessions for the children of police personnel, including martyrs, injured, and serving employees.
The MoU was signed by DIG Welfare Muhammad Kashif Mushtaq Kanju on behalf of the police department and Vice-Chancellor Dr Zahoor Shah from AWKUM.
AIG Welfare Hameedullah Khan and university representatives were also present on the occasion.
Under the agreement, 100 percent waiver would be given to martyrs’ families, while AWKUM would offer 14 annual seats with full tuition waivers to children of police martyrs.
Similarly 30 percent fee concession based on need and to be approved by the university’s Vice-Chancellor for the children of serving police personnel was also agreed between the two institutions.
Speaking on the occasion Dr Zahoor Shah, Vice-Chancellor of AWKUM, commended the sacrifices of the KP Police in the fight against terrorism, describing their bravery and dedication as unmatched.
He highlighted the exemplary courage of police officers who risked their lives, sometimes embracing martyrdom, to protect their communities.
Dr Shah stated, “When police officers can offer their lives for our safety, it becomes our duty to ensure their children receive quality education.”
He emphasized AWKUM’s strong academic track record and pledged continued support for the police department in the future.
He said that this collaboration underscored the shared commitment to recognizing the sacrifices of the police force and ensuring their families have access to quality education.
