PESHAWAR, Dec 09 (APP):UNHCR Representative in Pakistan Philippa Chandler on Monday visited the Institute of Kidney Disease (IKD) Hospital in Hayatabad, Peshawar and inaugurated the CT Scan machine donated by the UN body.
She was accompanied by key members of the UNHCR team, including David Malba Senior Protection Officer, OIC, Chandu Bhandari Program Officer and Dr Amanullah Assistant Public Health Officer.
She also planted a tree on the hospital premises, symbolizing UNHCR’s commitment to sustainable development and environmental responsibility.
Hospital Director, Dr Riaz provided a comprehensive briefing on the range of medical services available at IKD, with particular focus on the hospital’s dedication to serving refugee patients.
During the visit, the discussions focused on strengthening future cooperation between UNHCR and IKD to improve healthcare delivery for the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including Afghan refugees.
The visit underscored UNHCR’s continued support for enhancing healthcare infrastructure and fostering partnerships to benefit host communities and refugees alike.
