Senate body condemns Indian aggression across LOC, move to put Pakistan on FATF’s watch-list

ISLAMABAD, Feb 20 (APP):The Senate’s Standing Committee on Interior Tuesday strongly condemned continued Indian forces’ aggression across the Line of Control (LoC) and the United States move to place Pakistan on the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) watch list of countries funding terrorism.
The committee, which met here at the Parliament House with Senator Rehman Malik in the chair, unanimously adopted two resolutions in that regard.
The resolution moved by Rehman Malik read : “The Senate Standing Committee on Interior condemns the move by certain member states of the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) to place Pakistan on the body’s watch-list. This move has been engineered by the USA and India with mala fide intentions and it will not only affect the ‘War on Terror’ and also the Pakistan’s economy. We call upon the West and member states of the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) to reject this move as Pakistan being the worst victim of terrorism deserves international support to not be placed on the FATF grey-list”
Rehman Malik said there was always Indian hand behind every anti-Pakistan move.
He said, “W as a nation thank the government of China for opposing the US’ anti-Pakistan move to place Pakistan in FATF’s watchlist”. He asked the international community to respect Pakistan’ sacrifices in the war against terrorism, which had suffered more than any other country.
“By such negative moves against Pakistan, India actually wants to weaken Pakistan economically and to harm international community’s efforts against terrorism”, he added.
He said he had already charge-sheeted Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his crimes against humanity and war crimes against innocent Kashmiri people and asked the government of Pakistan to move against Narendra Modi in International Criminal Court.
The committee also discussed “The Criminal Laws (Amendment) Protection of Rights of Transgender Persons Bill 2017′, moved by Senator Rubina Khalid and deferred its to the absence of the mover.
Rehman Malik said as the said the bill was highly important and he would seek extension from the House. He said he was shocked to know that Kohat police had refused to register a first information report on the complaint of a transgender.
The committee also considered “The Islamabad Capital Territory (Prohibition of Interest on Private Loan) 2018′, moved by Senator Siraj ul Haq and deferred it due to the absence of the moverl.
‘The Miscarriage of Justice Compensation Bill 2017’ and other three bills moved by Senator Muhammad Azam Khan Swati were withdrawn by the mover.
The committee expressed its resentment over the delay in suspending the notification issued by the government with regard to cancellation of arms licenses issued to parliamentarians, high ranking functionaries and notables for protection. The committee constituted a coordination committee under Sardar Fateh Muhammad Muhammad Hassni to look into the matter.
Senators Javed Abbasi, Sardar Fateh Hassani, Shahi Syed, Dr Jehanzeb Jamaldini and Saleh Shah attended the meeting. The meeting was also attended by secretaries Interior and Law and Justice, Chairman of Council of Islamic Ideology (CII) and other ministry officials.
