Senate mourns death of former senators Abdul Majid Kazi, Mir Hazar Bijrani

ISLAMABAD, Feb 12 (APP):Senate on Monday passed two separate condolence resolutions to mourn the death of former senators, Abdul Majid Kazi and Mir Hazar Khan Bijrani.
Both the resolutions were moved by leader of the House Raja Zafarul Haq separately in the Senate.
The House expressed its profound grief and shock over the sad demise of former senators Abdul Majid Kazi and Mir Hazar Khan Bijrani.
Abdul Majid Kazi was elected to the Senate of Pakistan in the year 1985 and he remained Senator till 1991. He remained the Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting.
He was a professional engineer and remained on key positions in PIDC, Indus Gas Company, Sui Gas Transmission Company.
He was a Professor of Agricultural Engineering in Sindh Agriculture College, Tando Jam. His services in the Oil and Gas Sector will be long remembered.
During his tenure in the Senate, he made very productive speeches and made important contributions in the Standing Committees.
“The services rendered by him would long be remembered. We pray to Almighty Allah to shower his infinite blessings on the departed soul. May his soul rest in eternal peace and may Allah Almighty give his family the strength and fortitude to bear this irreparable loss,” the resolution said.
Former Senator Mir Hazar Khan Bijrani was elected to the Senate of Pakistan in March, 1988 and he remained
Senator till November, 1990. He was a lawyer and had a Bachelor of Laws from Sindh Muslim Law College.
He was elected to the Provincial Assembly of Sindh from Jacobabad in a by-election held in early 1974 at the age of twenty-eight years and served as the Provincial Minister of Sindh for Sports during 1974.
He was re-elected to the Provincial Assembly of Sindh in the General Election 1977 and remained Member of the Sindh Assembly until July, 1977.
He actively participated in the Movement for the Restoration of Democracy and was elected to the National Assembly of Pakistan for the first time as an independent candidate from Jacobabad in the General Election 1990.
He was re-elected to the National Assembly of Pakistan from Jacobabad in the General Election 1997 and
remained Federal Minister for Defence Production.
He re- joined the Pakistan Peoples’ Party in 2001 and was re-elected to the National Assembly in the General Elections of 2002 and 2008 and was appointed as Minister for Education.
He was elected to the Provincial Assembly of Sindh in 2013 and served as Provincial Minister for Planning and
Development.
He was seasoned politician and has also authored two books. The services rendered by him would long be remembered.
