Over 200 calligraphers submit art works for participating in National Calligraphy Competition

ISLAMABAD, Feb 01 (APP):Over 200 Calligraphers have submitted their art works to the National History and Literary Heritage (NH&LH) Division for participation in the upcoming National Calligraphy Competition and Exhibition which reflect their enthusiasm and love for this ancient form of art.
This was stated by Advisor to Prime Minister on National History and Literary Heritage (NH&LH), Irfan Siddiqui while presiding over a high-level meeting here to review the arrangements of the National Calligraphy Competition and Exhibition, starting from February 23.
Irfan Siddiqui said, “It is a matter of great satisfaction that Calligraphers from far flung areas of the country including FATA, Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir have submitted their unique art pieces to the division for participating in the competition”, he said.
He said National Calligraphy Competition and Exhibition will help discover talented Calligraphers from the remote corners of the country and play vital role in the revival of this Islamic art.
Irfan Siddiqui said this competition is dedicated to the legendary Calligrapher of the sub-continent; Abdul Majeed Parveen Raqam to pay tribute to his extra-ordinary services for promotion of Calligraphy.
The meeting also decided to give away special prizes to the Calligraphers from remote areas of the country and women Calligraphers.
Federal Secretary for NH&LH, Engineer Aamir Hasan , Joint Secretary, Syed Junaid Akhlaq and other relevant officials of the division briefed the Advisor to Prime Minister, Irfan Siddiqui about the so far arrangements made for this grand event.
Chairman National Language Promotion Department (NLPD), Iftikhar Arif, Managing Director National Book Foundation (NBF), Dr. Inam ul Haq Javed and others officials also attended the meeting.
