Pakistani community in New York urged to join efforts in countering anti-Pakistan propaganda

NEW YORK, Jan 30 (APP):A senior Pakistani diplomat has called on members of the Pakistani community in New York to complement the official efforts to counter a rise in anti-Pakistan sentiment in the United States.
“I appeal to you to forge unity among themselves and to speak with one voice,” Raja Ali Ejaz, the consul general in New York, told a largely-attended meeting of Pakistani-Americans at the Pakistani consulate on Monday.
In this regard, he urged them to step up their interaction with fellow Americans in order to dispel their wrong impressions about Pakistan and to apprise them of the factual situation.
Consul General Ejaz convened the meeting to discuss the problems and issues faced by the Pakistani community in an effort to find a solution.
At the outset, the diplomat informed his cheering audience of the efforts being made by the government of Pakistan to enable the overseas Pakistanis to vote in the country’s general elections.
He promised to keep the Pakistani community informed of the developments in this regard.
He told the meeting that “Free Balochistan” stickers on some New York Taxis and buses were taken off after his office took up the matter with the authorities here.
Members of the Pakistani community informed the consul general of their plans to stage a rally in New York on February 5, the Kashmir Solidarity Day, which is officially observed in Pakistan.
Earlier, Hanif Channa, Counsellor of Community Welfare at the Consulate General, thanked the members of the Pakistani community for their participation in the meeting.
