Three-day Int’l tourism Conference to start from tomorrow

ISLAMABAD, Jan 28 (APP):A three-day International Conference on Tourism organized by Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation (PTDC) in collaboration with United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) will start here in federal capital on Monday.
The conference would be attended by the delegates and representatives of member countries of World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), representatives from local private and public tourism-related sectors, official from UNWTO, international tourism experts, representatives of National Tourism administrations/organizations in the Region of Asia and the Pacific.
Managing Director, (MD) Chaudhry Abdul Ghafoor said, the conference would be a great achievement which would help to promote soft image of Pakistan in the world.
He said PTDC was keen to promote tourism, strengthen the position of PTDC and to make performance of the corporation a role model.
“The organizing of the international tourism event will be a great opportunity to showcase the current situation of Pakistan tourism development and to further strengthen the collaboration between UNWTO and PTDC”, he said.
He said that the international conference was designed to understand the current tourism development situation of the country and to promote the development of adventure tourism, religious tourism, recreation tourism as well as culture and heritage tourism in the country.
“The event would also enhance the collaboration between UNWTO and Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation (PTDC),” Abdul Ghafoor said.
He said that the conference was specifically planned to review the current quality and standard of the country’s tourism product, both existing and potential, in terms of its diversity (natural, cultural, recreational).
The conference would also enhance level of understanding on the needs of necessary collaboration between UNWTO and Pakistan.
