PM invites Medtronic to set up training, education centers in Pakistan

ISLAMABAD, Jan 25 (APP):Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi Thursday invited Medtronic, the world’s largest integrated health and medical technology company, to set up training and educational centers and partner with Pakistani hospitals for integrated health solutions.
The prime minister extended this invitation during a meeting with Omar Ishrak, Chairman and CEO, Medtronic at the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, Switzerland.
Minister for National Health Services Ms Saira Afzal Tarar, Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Ms. Maryum Aurangzeb, Special Assistant to the PM Ali Jehangir Siddiqui and senior government officials were also present during the meeting, according to a press release received here from Davos.
The prime minister apprised the chief executive officer (CEO) about the Prime Minister’s Health Programme and the achievements made in immunization coverage across the country.
He also emphasized on collaborative projects in the field of healthcare research and development. Healthcare delivery models were also discussed during the meeting.
Ishrak thanked the prime minister and offered support in solving the healthcare challenges of the future and providing value-based healthcare.
He also offered to partner with the government in establishing state-of-the-art hospitals either through private investment or public-private-partnership.
