Melania Trump not to join President in Davos: Media reports

NEW YORK, Jan 24 (APP):US First Lady Melania Trump will not be accompanying her husband to the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, according to American media reports.
The change of plans was confirmed Tuesday to CNN by White House Communications Director Stephanie Grisham, who had said a week earlier that she would be partaking at the event in a show of support for President Donald Trump.
The new decision was made based on “scheduling and logistical issues,” according to the White House official.
The President’s own trip to Davos was also in flux until several hours ago, due to the government shutdown, which has been now been resolved.
White House press secretary Sarah Sanders had said Monday that if the government reopened, Trump would keep his promise to attend.
“The President’s delegation will leave tomorrow, and the President will continue on his trip later in the week,” she said, in the event of the shutdown ending.
Melania Trump has kept a low profile since reports surfaced that her husband’s personal lawyer Michael Cohen allegedly paid adult movie star Stormy Daniels $130,000 to keep quiet about a 2006 affair.
After The Wall Street Journal broke the story on January 12, the first lady went with Trump to Mar-a-Lago in Florida for the holiday weekend but did not attend the two dinners he hosted — one with former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani and another with House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy.
On the one-year anniversary of her husband’s inauguration Saturday, Melania Trump tweeted an image of herself with a military escort at Trump’s inaugural swearing-in ceremony. The tweet, which did not mention the President, said the past year was “filled with many wonderful moments.”
