24th Governor Gold Cup Cricket in Feb this year: MPA Dr. Zakir

PESHAWAR, Jan 20 (APP):The 24th edition of the Governor Gold Cup Cricket Tournament will be organized in February this year.
This was stated by former Member Provincial Assembly and Chairman Organizing Committee Dr. Zahir Shah while talking to APP here on Saturday. He said preparation in this connection have already been kicked off for holding the 24th edition of Governor Gold Cup Cricket Tournament which was the oldest one as it started in way back 1986.
He said as desired by the late Governor KP Lt. Gen (Retd) Fazale Haq Mr. Amjad Aziz Malik launched the tournament while Provincial Minister for Sports late Mian Muhammad Iqbal. He said now Malik Saad Shaheed Sports Trust has decided to organize it.
He said in this connection members of the organizing committee comprising Farid Ullah and Syed Hashmat Shah, President Peshawar District Cricket Association Asghar Khan and Secretary General Hanif Shah held a meeting and discuss ways and mean for the smooth sailing of the tournament.
Dr. Zakir said that a total of 32 teams will take part including teams from Mohmand Agency, Bajaur Agency and Khyber Agency. He said a request would be made to the Governor KP Engr. Iqbal Zafar Jhagra to grace the occasion as chief guest.
He said the tournament will also carry attractive cash prizes while trophies for winners and runners-up would also be given. He said all resources would be utilized to provide due facilities to the players. The matches of the tournament will be organized at Arbab Niaz Cricket Stdium, Gymkhana ground.
