ISLAMABAD, Jan 3 (APP):Minister for Defense Khurram Dastgir Wednesday said Pakistan’s defence was strong and its valiant forces had the capability to protect every inch of their homeland.
Talking to a private news channel, he said Pakistan had highly trained counter-terrorism force in the world and the armed forces had achieved maximum results in war against terrorism in the country.
He said Pakistan had carried out many operations against terrorists including Zarb-e-Azb and Radd-ul-Fasaad and eliminated terrorists sanctuaries from the country.
He said there was need that Pakistan highlight its steps and achievements in war against terror before United States (US) and the world.
He said Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) government had resolved major challenges which were being face by Pakistan and started development projects including China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
Pakistan wanted durable peace in Afghanistan as it was also linked to peace in Pakistan, he said.
US had spent billions of dollars in Afghanistan but could not achieve desired results, he said adding that Pakistan was playing its role to establish peace in Afghanistan.
Khurram Dastgir said Trump’s speeches against Pakistan were negative and hate provoking but there was nothing new in that.
Internal political stability and continuity of the democratic system was must for economic development in the country, he said.
To a query, he said US could put diplomatic and economic pressure on Pakistan following tweet of Trump.
To a question, he said Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) chairman Tahir-ul-Qadri was a Canadian citizen and do not had any elected representative of his party in the country.
Khurram said people of Pakistan had the right to elect the government as continuity of the democratic system was pivotal to move the country ahead.
