Commissioner gets briefing on educational progress

SARGODHA, Aug 27 (APP):Commissioner Sargodha Division, Malik Jahanzeb Awan, on Tuesday met Director Colleges Sargodha Division, Chaudhry Sarfraz Ahmed Gujjar, and his team to discuss administrative matters and ongoing projects.
The Director presented a comprehensive briefing on the education sector within the division. He informed the Commissioner that there were a total of 97 government colleges in Sargodha division, including 48 for girls and 49 for boys.
Out of the 2,390 teaching positions, 1,769 were filled, while 1,542 appointments were made out of 2,117 non-teaching positions while the remaining positions remain vacant.
The director highlighted that over 48,000 students were currently enrolled in government colleges across the division. This year, the target for admissions stands at 20,000, of which 50% have already been achieved.
He further mentioned that 156 private colleges were also operating in the four districts of Sargodha, Khushab, Mianwali, and Bhakkar, contributing to the advancement of education.
“Seven new colleges are also being constructed across the division to enhance access to higher education,” he added.
The Commissioner Jahanzeb Awan emphasized the importance of focusing on IT education in government colleges and directed the Director of Colleges to ensure the availability of qualified teachers in all modern subjects.
He stressed the need to improve the overall quality of education and to create a more conducive learning environment for students. The meeting concluded with a discussion on future plans for the development of the education sector in Sargodha division.
