MUZAFFARGARH, Aug 09 (APP):The Multan Electric Power Company (Mepco) Muzaffargarh circle has arrested 2872 power pilferers among 3687 violators against whom cases were registered during the ongoing campaign.
In line with special directives of the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Mepco Engineer Nasir Ayaz Khan Gurmani, the Mepco Muzaffargarh circle continued crackdown against power pilferers to minimize line losses by controlling power theft and increase revenue. The surveillance teams, caught 3771 power pilferers and imposed fine worth over Rs 169.2 million out of which 136.1 million has already been recovered.
The Mepco operations resulted in registration of FIRs against 3687 pilferers and arrest of 2872 power pilferers.
The Mepco official sources confirmed that from September 2023 to August 2024, a total of 3629 domestic consumers, 103 commercial, 29 tube-well and 10 industrial consumers were found involved in power pilferage.
