LAHORE, Jul 24 (APP):A delegation comprising students from various universities called on Governor Punjab /Chancellor Sardar Saleem Haider Khan and apprised him of various issues, including girls’ hostels, transport and increase in tution fee during a meeting at the Governor’s House here on Wednesday.
Speaking on the occasion, the governor said that the youth are the future of the country.
He said that in addition to imparting education to them, the aspect of their moral training was also very important. He said that the most important purpose of education was to develop tolerance in oneself. He said it was the responsibility of the institution to provide a
clean environment in the universities.
He said that concrete steps were being taken to improve the universities, especially for the
prevention of drugs. The governor said he would visit the universities himself soon. He said that the doors of the Governor’s House were always open for the students. He appreciated the proposal of youth portal given by the students and assured of starting work on it as soon as possible.
The students thanked the governor and said that they got an opportunity to meet the chancellor directly for the first time and tell their problems. The governor assured of solve the various problems faced by the students on a priority basis. During the meeting, General Secretary PPP Central Punjab Hasan Murtaza was also present.
