LAHORE, Jul 24 (APP):A new phase of one thousand departmental promotions has started in the Punjab Highway Patrol (PHP).
In the first phase 18 assistant sub-inspectors (ASIs) have been promoted as sub-inspectors. A rank-pinning ceremony was held at the Central Police Office, here on Wednesday. Inspector General of Police (IGP) Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar, along with senior officers, pinned the ranks on the officers. Families of the promoted SIs were also present.
The IGP said that 1,000 personnel of the PHP were being promoted in phases. He said 250 ASIs and 500 head constables would be promoted in next phases. Additionally, 250 personnel would be promoted through the P-Cadet system. He said that to overcome personnel shortage in the PHP, new recruitment was underway. Vehicles, modern technology, and new resources were being provided, and the PHP was being equipped with bulletproof jackets, thermal imaging quad copters, and other advanced resources.
The IGP mentioned that in the past 1.5 years, the PHP arrested 40,000 proclaimed offenders, recovered 7,000 stolen vehicles, issued driving licences to 143,000 citizens, and provided driving training to 7,000 citizens. He praised that PHP’s axle load management system, which was being followed by other provincial police forces. He mentioned that over 3,400 promotions had been given according to merit in the PHP in the past 1.5 years. He said that 100 Inspector seats had been approved, 50pc of the force was benefiting from the new service and promotion structure. The Police Khidmat Centers at PHP’s 360 checkpoints across the province provided policing services to over 50,000 citizens, he added.
Among those promoted from ASI to Sub-Inspector were five from Lahore, three each from Gujranwala, Faisalabad, and Multan, two from Bahawalpur, and one each from DG Khan and Sargodha.
