New EPI training hall inaugurated at DHA

RAWALPINDI, Jul 24 (APP):Additional Deputy Commissioner Dr. Zunera Aftab inaugurated the new EPI training hall in the office of District Health Authority, Rawalpindi.  The newly constructed hall is one of the 9 other training halls developed in Punjab in collaboration with World Health Organisation (WHO).
Speaking on the occasion, ADC Dr. Zunera Aftab stressed for need of quality training to the staff of Punjab Extension Program for Immunization (EPI) at district, tehsil and UC level. Appreciating the cooperation by WHO for providing the training hall, Zunera said that a state-of-the-art training hall would provide opportunities for continuous professional training programs under EPI. Availability of quality space greatly improves the learning process, she said.
Chief Executive Officer, District Health Authority Rawalpindi Dr. Asif Arbab Khan Niazi, District Health Officer Dr. Ehsan Ghani and Divisional Officer WHO Dr. Muhammad Asif Shahzad were also present on the inaugural event occasion.
Dr. Asif Arbab Khan said that EPI Punjab provides vaccination of 12 diseases through its skilled staff. Providing vaccination services requires skilled staff, knowledge and expertise. He said that to ensure quality service delivery, a comprehensive training program was active throughout the year.  Quality training is critical to the performance of our workforce.
To conduct these trainings, we needed a modern and improved hall where capacity building sessions could be conducted in a professional manner, he said. He informed that earlier there was no specific training hall available to meet the professional training requirements.
It is noteworthy that World Health Organization has renovated EPI training halls in Lahore, Rawalpindi, Multan, Faisalabad, Gujranwala, Sargodha, Sahiwal, Dera Ghazi Khan and Rahim Yar Khan.
