STEVTA to establish skill development mechanism for affected women at Safe House, women prison

HYDERABAD, Jul 24 (APP):Provincial Minister for Women Development Sindh, Shahina Sher Ali Wednesday announced the Sindh Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority (STEVTA) will soon collaborate with the department to establish a skill development mechanism for affected women at Safe House and women prison.
Talking to media persons at Safe House, she said this program will provide training, workshops and skills development p to empower women in the province.
During her visit to Safe House Hyderabad, the Minister said that an MoU will be signed with STEVTA for the skill development of women in all districts of Sindh and added that women will be provided with training workshops and skills development programmes to make them self-sufficient.
She stated that the purpose of her visit was to meet with affected women and listen to their problems.
The Sindh Minister also met with the parents of a woman who reportedly was sexually abused. She strictly directed for conducting inquiry into the matter without delay and assured the victim for providing legal aid.
Director Darul-Aman Khalida Somroo briefed the Minister on the current situation and facilities available in the center.
She said that women are provided with training of different skills like sewing, cosmetics, and beautification while digital skills training on social applications is also being provided to the victims.
The Regional Director of STEVTA, Manzoor Ali Chandio, said that short courses will be offered in collaboration with Safe House including mobile repairing, IT, beautification, and tailoring. He said that the courses will be designed according to the needs of women.
Director Women Development Hyderabad Ashiq Kalhoro, Incharge Women Complaint cell Sayeda Qurat ul Ain Shah, Reshma Thebo and others were present on occasion.
Later the Sindh Minister also inaugurated a vocational training center at the Women’s Central Jail Hyderabad, which was established in collaboration with Pakistan Legal United Society Plus and Women Development.
She said that legal support will be provided to women in all kinds of matters like domestic violence etc.
The event was attended by officials, including DIG Prisons, Syed Munawar Ali Shah, and Executive Director of Pakistan Legal United Society Razia Patel.
