Ceremony held to honor martyrs of 2018 attack

KARACHI, Jul 22 (APP): A ceremony was held at the Central Police Office here Monday to honor the martyrs of the November 23, 2018, attack on the Chinese Consulate.

The event was attended by Sindh Home Minister Zia ul Hassan Lanjar as the chief guest, along with the families of the martyred police officers, ASI Ashraf Dawood and Constable Ameer. Other attendees included Chinese Consul General Yang Yungdong, IGP Sindh Ghulam Nabi Memon, Additional IGP Karachi Javed Akhtar Odho and other senior police officers.

In his address, Home Minister Zia Ul Hassan Lanjar praised the bravery and valor of the police officers and Jawans who sacrificed their lives to protect the people. He expressed gratitude to the Chinese government for acknowledging these sacrifices and emphasized the essential role of public support in the fight against crime.

IGP Sindh Ghulam Nabi Memon highlighted the importance of the sacrifices made by the martyred officers, calling them an asset and a guiding light for the department. He assured continued commitment to the welfare of the families of the martyrs.

Chinese Consul General Yang Yungdong commended the security measures of the Sindh Police and expressed the Chinese government’s gratitude for their support and cooperation.

The ceremony concluded with the exchange of a commemorative shield between the Sindh Police and the Chinese Consulate. A memorial medal was presented to AIGP Finance Suhai Aziz on behalf of the Chinese government, and Home Minister Zia Ul Hassan Lanjar also presented gifts to the families of the martyred officers on behalf of the Sindh Police.
