SUKKUR, Jul 18 (APP):The Sindh Rural Support Organization (SRSO), handed over the seven productive assets (heifers) against death claims to ultra-poor families of Benazir Income Support Program (BISP) beneficiaries of the several Union Councils (UCs) of district Shikarpur.
According to SRSO Spokesperson, Jameel Ahmed on Thursday, the SRSO is under the National Poverty Graduation Programme- a flagship program of the Government of Pakistan and the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD).
He said that all heifers were screened and vaccinated properly as well in the presence of beneficiaries. He said that the beneficiaries were briefed about the program and proper asset management to achieve the goal of poverty graduation on a sustainable basis.
All distributed heifers have been also insured under SRSO’s Micro Health Insurance (MHI) policy to provide safety cover to the livelihood source of the program beneficiaries and in case of death, the SRSO is re-transferring the livestock assets to cover up the livelihood source of the ultra-poor households of NPGP beneficiaries, he added.
