MULTAN, Jul 11 (APP): Local district administration arranged an awareness walk on Population Day here on Thursday.
The participants took play cards and displayed banners to spread awareness of the increasing population in the country.
Additional Deputy Commissioner, Faizan Ahmed, District Population Officer Hayat, and Tehsil Population Officer Hammad Dilawar led the walk held at Chowk Katchery.
Mufti Abdullah and others from the Uqaf department were also present at the event.
Speaking on the occasion, the Additional Deputy Commissioner hinted population in the country was increasing by leaps and bounds.
He warned of the ruthless impacts of increasing the population in different fields of life.
He appealed to the masses to play a cohesive role in controlling the population as per one’s capacity.
He said overcoming the population was the sole remedy to control the depletion of the resources in a befitting manner.
Let’s alter the traditional thought to prepare a useful generation in the country up next, he said.
The District Population Officer said Pakistan is ranked top in the first 20 countries in the world.
The increasing population in the country leads to a fall of about 40 percent population below the poverty line, he said.
