PESHAWAR, Jul 10 (APP):Peshawar Police on Wednesday arrested two members of a dacoits gang allegedly involved in several dacoits cases in different areas.
This was stated by SP Cantt Waqas Rafiq in a press conference here. He said in a successful attempt of the Police team, two members of the Dacoits gang have been arrested from Buner district and the gang was involved in numerous incidents of dacoits not only in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa but also in Punjab.
He said the arrested dacoits used to commit dacoity in police uniforms and would hide the looted items or money underground in a house located in Buner after the incidents.
The SP Cantt Waqas Rafiq also informed that the police recovered stolen items including gold worth Rs 4.1 million besides police uniforms which they used to use for committing robberies. SP Cantt Waqas Rafiq further stated that seven other accomplices of the arrested suspects were still at large, and efforts were ongoing to apprehend them.
He said that the police were committed to protecting the lives and properties of citizens and in this regard no compromise would be made, the senior police officer added.
He said two operatives of dacoit gang have been arrested from Buner and this group was active in different districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Waqas Rafiq said. Seven other accomplices of the arrested accused are absconding and efforts are on to arrest them, Waqas Rafiq.
He disclosed that the same gang committed dacoity in the house of Maqbali Khan, living in the jurisdiction of Pishtakhara Police Station on January 23, 2024.
He also appreciated the successful operation of Pishtakhara Police Station of Cantt Division and succeeded in arresting two members of the organized dacoity and bandit gang exposed at gunpoint wiping out houses.
During a successful operation under an effective strategy, two suspects including the Afghan ringleader were arrested, SP Waqas Rafiq said. He said, on January 23, the arrested accused had robbed the house of one Muqbali Khan in the limits of Pishtakhara Police Station. His son in law Muhammad Iqbql and Muhammad Iqbal son Talha Iqbal and all the family members were locked in a room on a gun-point and looted the gold armaments of Rs. 20 million and 1 million in cash besides other valuable items.
He disclosed that one of the arrested suspects belongs to the neighboring country of Afghanistan while the other is a resident of Buner district. During the robbery, the accused committed the robbery under the pretext of investigation by pretending to be a government official.
During the initial investigation, the accused confessed to committing robberies at the point of arms in Swabi, Nowshera, Punjab and other cities as well as Peshawar. He said, a total of Rs. 4.1 million in cash was recovered from the possession of the arrested accused.
