Dera police devise security plan for Muharram

DERA ISMAIL KHAN, Jul 07 (APP):The district police have devised a comprehensive security plan to maintain peace during the holy month of Muharram, especially on the 9th and 10th of Muharram.
District Police Officer (DPO) Nasir Mehmood informed the media on Sunday that the district had been divided into four zones and an SP rank officer would perform duty in each zone. Besides, he told that eight sectors and 14 sub-sectors were made wherein a DSP raked officer would command each sector and SHO ranked officer would be deployed as commander of sub-sectors.
The DPO said that around 8500 officers and personnel would perform security duty of Imambargahs, Masajid and processions across the district. He said the strict checking is being done at all the 70 blockades created across the district. Before the start of Muharram, the DPO added, checking has been started and security has tightened at all the entry and exit points of the city by deploying additional personnel.
He said that mobile vans of 15 and Quick Response Force (QRF) would be on patrolling in the district while riders of 15 would also monitor the security in City Circle. Besides, he said the security of processions, Majalis, Imambargahs and Masajid would be monitored by using cameras through monitoring system of police in Command and Control Center.
DPO Nasir Mehmood said, Section-144 of the Penal Code has also been imposed in the district, under which, the display and carrying of all types of arms, ammunition and weapons would be banned. The pillion riding would be banned from Muharram 01 to 08 while the use of motorcycles would be completely banned on Muharram 9th and 10th.
The DPO said that the deployment of personnel would also be made at around 124 different places on roof tops of procession routes on Muharram 9th and 10th. While while the bridges of Chashma Right Bank Canal (CRBC), where the security has already been enhanced, would be completely closed on Muharram 9th and 10th.
