Balochistan govt allocates Rs 20 bln for development of health sector in FY 2024-25

QUETTA, Jun 21 (APP): The Balochistan government has allocated Rs 20 billion for development of health sector during the next financial year 2024-25 and around 242 new posts have also been created in the health sector.

According to budget document, the government has increased the non-development budget of health sector for financial year 2024-25 as Rs 67.3 billion has been proposed against the revised budget of Rs 52.7 billion for the current financial year 2023-24.

The provincial government has released Rs 80 million from the development budget for the provision of more facilities in the field of public health in the provincial Sandeman and BMC hospitals under restructuring and institutional reforms during the current financial year 2023-24.

The measures related to the prevention, treatment of various diseases are very important in the public sector, therefore, after education, the health sector is among the top priorities of Balochistan government, which plays a key role in human development and protection.

During the next financial year 2024-25, an amount of Rs.100 million has been allocated for the activation of BHUs, which have been inactive for many years, through PPHI.

During the upcoming financial year, Rs 102 million have been allocated for the operation of labor rooms in various hospitals and Rs 5.5 billion have been allocated for the health card program.

In the next financial year 2024-25, Rs 582 million has been allocated for free supply of medicines to cancer patients.
The government has increased the grant of BINUQ from Rs 300 million to Rs 500 million.

The government has also released Rs 442 million has been released for the purchase of a new MRI machine for Sandeman Hospital in the current financial year 2023-24.

During the next fiscal year 2024-25, Rs 80 million have been allocated for the public health laboratory, which will facilitate the diagnosis of infectious diseases.

It added that Rs 120 million have been allocated for safe blood transfusion in RBC Center Quetta during the coming financial year 2024-25.

In the next financial year 2024-25, a total of Rs 2.8 billion has been allocated for the purchase of new machines for various hospitals.

The allocation of Rs4.9 billion for the supply of medicines to various hospitals has been increased to 6.6 billion rupees during the next financial year 2024-25.

The three major hospitals of Quetta would be made semi-autonomous, with the support of the Sindh government, a state of the art hospital would be established in Naseerabad for liver diseases, and an NICVD-style hospital would be updated in Quetta for heart diseases.
