LAHORE, Oct 01 (APP):The battle against dengue fever continues in Punjab, with 126 new cases reported on Sunday, according to the latest data from the Health Department.
This year, a total of 4,431 confirmed dengue cases have been reported across 36 districts in Punjab, raising concerns among health authorities.
Lahore leads the unfortunate tally with a staggering 1,770 cases, closely followed by Rawalpindi with 1,176 cases, Multan with 532, Faisalabad with 211, and Gujranwala with 182 cases. The situation remains critical, with an additional 34 new cases reported in Lahore, 60 in Rawalpindi, 13 in Multan, 7 in Faisalabad, and 5 in Gujranwala. Narowal, Dera Ghazi Khan, Chiniot, and Lodharan each confirmed one new dengue case.
Currently, 106 patients are receiving treatment in hospitals across Punjab, with 33 of them hospitalized in Lahore alone.
Punjab Health Secretary Ali Jaan Khan urged citizens to maintain clean and dry surroundings as a crucial preventive measure against dengue fever.
He emphasized the importance of cooperating with health department teams which are tirelessly working to combat the outbreak.
