31 sent to jail for selling expensive sugar: Secretary Food

PESHAWAR, Sep 08 (APP):As many as 31 people were sent to jail for selling expensive sugar, Secretary Food Abid Wazir told media men during his visit to different areas to check the rates of sugar.
He told media men that all the arrested persons were involved in selling the sugar on Rs. 200 per kg in the superstores and shops.
The price of sugar per kg, he said, is Rs 176. Secretary Food Abid Wazir said that Rs 200 per kg is being sold in superstores and shops, Secretary Food Abid Wazir said. Those who create artificial shortages of sugar do not deserve any concession, Abid Wazir said.
When asked about arresting big fish, who are actually involved in smuggling sugar to Afghanistan, he did not give any satisfactory answer, and said: “We are actually raiding different supermarkets and shops to compel them to sell sugar at the actual price.”
