ISLAMABAD, Jan 8 (APP): All-rounder Shoaib Malik has said that the key to perform well away is how quickly a team adjust in different playing conditions.
“The team which adjust the quickest performs better. Pakistan was going six days early to the series so hopefully we would be able to prepare well for the fixtures,” he said during a media talk.”Off course it will be a little tough (when it comes to Pakistan’s tour) but its tough for every other team as well when they tour away, be it India, South Africa, England, New Zealand or Australia,” he added.Replying to a question, Malik said the training camp before
the New Zealand tour had benefitted tremendously to the players especially when it comes to fitness.”I hope there will be similar camps in future as well,” he said, adding, the team’s form in shorter version of the game as compared to Test matches was not up to the mark but all the players were striving to improve it in big way.” He said he was disappointed that he was not part of the team for so many years but at the same time he had been fortunate
that during that period he had played leagues all over the world and shared dressing rooms with world class cricketers learning a lot from them.Former captain Shoaib Malik has represented green shirts 231 One Day Internationals averaging 34.44 with eight hundreds
and 35 fifties, while in 67 T20 internationals he has scored 1178 runs with an average of 24.04 with four fifties besides taking 150 wickets in ODIs and 23 in T20s.
On appointing psychiatrist with the team, Malik said this was board’s decision and whatever decision it makes, it was always for the betterment of national cricket.
To another question, he said the players did not live with families much and spend most of the time touring other countries and he had seen every player supporting each other which was a good omen for the team.
