Pak-US Knowledge Corridor to revolutionize education: Ahsan Iqbal

PESHAWAR, Jan 6 (APP): Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Reforms, Ahsan Iqbal said on Wednesday that the government has laid the foundation of Pakistan-US Knowledge Corridor (PUKC) to bring revolution in the field of higher education and research vital for sustained progress and economic development.

Addressing a function at Institute of Management Sciences (IMS) at Hayatabad here as chief guest, the Minister said 10,000 Pakistan scholars would be sent to top US universities for PhDs and other studies as per the vision of Prime Minister to promote higher education and research works in the country.

During the recent successful visit of Prime Minsiter Muhammad Nawaz Sharif to US, Ahsan Iqbal said it had been decided that 10,000 Pakistani PhD scholars would study in the top universities of America for a knowledge based society and economy. He said the states investing in higher education achieved new heights of progress and prosperity.

The Minister said the Government under its vision 2025 was making hectic efforts to put Pakistan among the 25 top performing economies.

He said framework of vision 2025 would not only help achieve targets of five year plan (2013-18) but also provide a roadmap to future governments to continue our reforms agenda for sustained national development.

“If our forefathers with very limited resources, under the dynamic leadership of Father of the Nations Quaid e Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, could create Pakistan within short span of seven years following Pakistan Resolution, than why not we can achieve the status of developed economies under vision 2025.”
