ISLAMABAD, Dec 16 (APP):Adviser to the Prime Minister on Finance and Revenue Shaukat Tarin said here on Thursday that the government was fully committed to address the issues of pharmaceutical industry and provide maximum support to it.
He was talking to delegation of Pakistan Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Association (PPMA) headed by its chairman Qazi M. Manzoor at Finance Division. Adviser to the Prime Minister on Commerce and Investment Abdul Razak Dawood, Governor State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), Chairman Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) and senior officers of finance division were also present in the meeting.
Tarin lauded the contribution of pharmaceutical manufacturers for the betterment of the economy of Pakistan, stressing them to enhance its export base. He also directed Chairman FBR to take all possible steps for the settlement of the issues of pharmaceutical industry related to Sales Tax.
On the occasion, Chairman PPMA highlighted the problems being faced by the pharmaceutical manufacturers especially issues related to refund of sales tax and sought support of the government to resolve their issues. The PPMA delegation thanked the Adviser for making efforts in addressing the issues of the industry.
