LAHORE, Oct 25 (APP): Federal Minister for Defense Production
& Science and Technology Rana Tanvir Hussain has said that silage introduced by Punjab Livestock & Dairy Development Board (PLDDB)
is a revolutionary step which will fill the gap of demand and supply of fodder in the province.
Addressing a seminar on need of silage in Narang Mandi on Tuesday, the minister said that Pakistan was blessed with all resources to become leading country for the supply of Halal product.
He added that farmers of the developed countries were using silage
as fodder for their animals instead of fresh fodder but in Pakistan, farmers are still away from getting benefits from silage due to lack of awareness.
He further said the PLDDB had planned a strategic awareness
campaign for the farmers to make the silage a well known animal feed
across Punjab. He said that for the betterment of farmers, government
had announced mega subsidy schemes to provide low cost fertilizers,
seeds and other agriculture inputs.
Earlier addressing the seminar, Silage Project Executive Hafiz
Muhammad Wasi Khan urged the famers to use silage to increase the milk and meat production. Silage is also an essential part of the farming world wide and we are striving to make it in Pakistan as well.
A large number of farmers, MNA Rana Afzal Hussain and PML N
city president Malik Muhammad Yousaf, Malik Bashir Ahmed and notabales of the area participated in the event.
